Welcome to my website, PoolMentor.com, official site of mentorship by BCA Instructor Doug Whaley. 

I am located in Antioch, CA which is about 20 miles from Oakland in the East Bay of the greater San Francisco Bay area, and has been home to my wife Sharon and I and our extended families for the last 20 years.  I have been a pool instructor and tutor in Northern California for the last 15 years, and I plan to continue mentoring pool players of all levels - beginner to pro - long after I retire and up until the day God calls me to play a set !!! 

As a player, I am a regular fixture in the Northern California pool scene and a multiple-time league Champion and league MVP in 8-ball and Scotch Doubles, both on bar tables in the Diablo Valley and BigWin 8-Ball Leagues, and also on the big tables in the San Francisco 8-ball league, and on my home court which is Crown Billiards in San Ramon, CA.  I have also won many 9-ball and 10-ball tournaments, both on the handicap level, and at the Open level.  For those of you familiar with the old USPPA ranking system my average fluctuated between 123-130 the last 2 years I competed.  I regularly play at the BCA Nationals in Las Vegas annually, and alternate years between singles/scotch competition, and team events.    

I received my BCA Instructor Credential from Randy Goettlicher’s Master Academy Cue-Tech Pool School in Dallas TX, and I am presently at the Recognized Level.
